"Who" won the Jeopardy game, Watson or his creators?

The computer called "Watson" is not a "who" but - rather clearly - a "what".

The winner of the game was Watson. The creators - even all of them acting in concert - probably would not have performed so well.

Don't forget, though: Watson is roughly as intelligent as a screwdriver. Watson displayed **artificial** intelligence - not actual intelligence. That is, Watson was programmed to operate in a manner that **seems** intelligent to the casual observer but which in fact is NOT intelligent.

The creators, of course. Everything Watson did was an expression of their work, and the machine "owes" its entire existence to them. There is a lesson to be learned from this.

While some here express concern about the future of human supremacy in light of such technology, the machine has not been endowed with the power of choice, the ability to make value judgments, or to act for its own survival. Nevertheless, there is an eerie deja-vu from the Old Testament.

To tie this in more closely with the category of "Religion and Spirituality," there are parallels between Watson's creators and God, right after Creation. Adam and Eve, who were endowed with choice and self-interest, chose to violate God's command, eating from the Tree of Knowledge of "Good and Evil." They chose wrongly and forfeited Paradise. Humankind was cut a lot of slack, and blew it. God however, had prepared for this.

Adam and Eve were now doomed to practice their survival instincts until death, both of which God had wisely provided for in such a case.

With that example in mind, Watson's creators (Humankind) will hopefully choose correctly this time, and not give their creation the power to decide in self-interest, to make value judgments (ie: good and evil), or to act for its own survival. An obedient Watson notwithstanding, a similar mechanism to the self-destruction of death would be a good idea, too, just in case.

The choice, once again, is ours. We can't undo that first mistake, but we can avoid repeating it."Who" won the Jeopardy game, Watson or his creators?
I am encouraged by your question, In fact, it is one of the Philosophical Questions

that I answer in the addendum to my proof of the existence of God.

I have already posted questions stating my dilemma: " I have irrefutable proof of the

existence of God. Should I tell the world? Part 2?"

Your question opens so many doors leading in so many directions that it must be

carefully answered using my proof."Who" won the Jeopardy game, Watson or his creators?
The people who designed the circuits.

The people who constructed the computer.

The people who wrote the programs.

Obviously, Watson is a remarkable device. Properly used, it can be a very valuable tool. But, it is still a tool.
