On the game show Jeopardy do the 2nd & 3rd place contestants get to keep their money?

On Wheel of Fortune all the contestants get to keep their money, but on Jeopardy I thought it was just 1st place that gets to keep their money %26amp; 2nd %26amp; 3rd go home with nothing. Is that correct? On the game show Jeopardy do the 2nd %26amp; 3rd place contestants get to keep their money?
The only person who gets to keep the money is the one who wins.
Consellation prize of a few hundred dollars I thinkOn the game show Jeopardy do the 2nd %26amp; 3rd place contestants get to keep their money?
i have no idea... i always thought that on Jeopardy the 2nd %26amp; 3rd place contestants got to keep their money
No, they get extremely lame supplemental prizes (ie, a case of soup, a $50 gift certificate to a sponsored store). In fact, they also need to pay their own way to the game show. So if they don't get first they usually lose money.

If it's a "Tournament of Champions" they get some money ... see:

...Wheel of Fortune is not a different story. It's exactly the same. I know a guy who went on Wheel of Fortune, came in second after messing up a question which had the answer "Dennis the Menace" in the speed round and he came home with nothing other than the cost of a plane ticket. Wheel of Fortune is definitely no different. Whatever/whoever made you think either of those shows paid for anything but first is wrong. On the game show Jeopardy do the 2nd %26amp; 3rd place contestants get to keep their money?
I think that the 2nd and 3rd place contestants get parting gifts
The only thing they go home with is consolation prizes, hun.....Wheel of Fortune is a different story.....All the contestants keep their winnings.....
I think the losers walk away with $1000

everyone with a different answer. I'm sure that helps
Second place gets $2000; third place gets $1000. They used to give prizes to 2nd and 3rd (usually a trip for 2nd and some object for 3rd), but they started doing it this way a few years ago, possibly coinciding with the time that Sony bought the show from Merv Griffin. In the earliest incarnation of the show, the contestants used to keep their money; however, if someone happened to be in 2nd or 3rd place but happened to have a good amount of money, they would not bet to win because they were happy with the amount they had. So the prizes were to stop this from happening.
You can find out for yourself at www.jeopardy.com and www.wheeloffortune.com.
No, the shows feels the contestants won't be as competitive if they know they will walk away with some money. All or nothing.
i think they get consolation prizes, but not their money.
