Do people on Game Shows that play for money actually win the money they win on the show?

So these games shows, like The Price is Right, Wheel Of Fortune, Jeopardy, Family Feud or any other game shows that deals with contestants winning money in the game....Do these contestants actually win the money they win on the show or is it all fake?? yeah they really win that money. .. but all money won over a certain amount, like anything else is taxed, so someone that wins 10,000 dollars could end up paying a grand or more on taxes. . . :( . . .. ive heard of some people winning supposably bran new cars, and they turned out to not be as new as they said they were. . .but most of the time the prizes and money is all real. . . :P
They win the money, but they have to pay tax on it. So usually they only take home 1/2 to 2/3's of their actual winnings. I think you do win the money because if you didn't, there wouldn't be a show on air for more than 30 years. Think about it. Wheel of Fortune is one of the most popular game shows. The only thing that some of us forget is that the money goes away fast because of bills, taxes, education (if you're in school) and to pay off some other ppl from back in the day.

not all of it, they have to pay taxes first then they get the rest

I think they really win that money. Otherwise there'd be a huge hoopla about it. I'd sure be ticked it it was me and I didn't get the money.
