Why do the dumbest game shows give the most money?

I've noticed that game shows that actually test a person's brain, such as Jeopardy give much less money than the "brainless" shows such as Deal or No Deal or Identity and whatnot. Why is intelligence demeaned for gimmicky shows?Why do the dumbest game shows give the most money?
Not all I remember Cram, $5,000 was all you won and you stayed up all night learing ridiculus BS and has to spew it back after no sleep or what about Beat the Geeks.Why do the dumbest game shows give the most money?
I don't know myself. Probably to make the contestant actually feel smart when they're not.
