How do you get on a game show?

I was wondering what it takes to get on a trivia game show on television where you win money. Like jeopardy or something similar. What would I need to do first. Second what would I need to study. I love playing videos games and poker. But I wanna make a little knowledge at something interesting. What would happen if I went to wal-mart and bought a trivia pursuit box and study all the questions. I mean study all the questions and known all the answers. Would that help or would I also need to go to the library? Anybody??How do you get on a game show?
If you look up the game shows that interest you the most online. Their official page should have a section that says "become a contestant" or something to that effect. Some may have an online test for you to take and qualify. Others may have a simple form to fill out for screening purposes. Once you get selected, it is my understanding that you will be given the general guidelines on preparation.

To study, I would watch as many episodes of the show as possible to identify categories and trends. In addition to the trivia games you mentioned, I'd also consider doing crossword puzzles. I'd go to famous quote, riddle and famous saying sites and study those as well.
